Outreach Overview

East Union’s heart blooms in mission! We serve God’s people locally beginning right here on our campus. Every Sunday we welcome special needs folks and their caregivers in a unique outreach worship service called “Faithful Followers.” We host the West Deer Food Bank. We deliver hot meals to seniors three days per week through our “Meals to Go” program. Every seven weeks we house and feed homeless families through the Interfaith Hospitality Network. Our children and youth regularly complete service projects that reach out to local veterans, the homebound and other needy groups.

We serve God’s people regionally through several ongoing projects. We have a long-term relationship with Cabwaylingo Chapel, an Appalacian-area ministry in Dunlow, West Virginia. We provide winter clothes and Christmas gifts for the community’s children every season, as well as collecting lightly-used clothing throughout the year for Cabwaylingo’s Clothes Closet. Every other month we take a meal to the Community House homeless shelter in downtown Pittsburgh (East Liberty), providing a nutritious meal for about 30 people. We support multiple regional ministries through the Allegheny Valley Association of Churches, based in Natrona Heights. And we actively support the work and mission of Crestfield Camp & Conference Center in Slippery Rock, PA, including taking work trips with families to help the camp with maintenance in the off-season.

We serve God’s people globally in significant ways. We have long partnered with the Nsoni Congregation, a church in Malawi, Africa, through Pittsburgh Presbytery’s Malawi Partnership. We have installed two solar-powered water purification systems in northern Haiti, through our trained team, working in conjunction with Living Waters for the World and Solar Under the Sun. We regularly support our denomination’s international mission work through Presbyterian Disaster Assistance.

Members and friends of East Union don’t just believe that Jesus Christ is savior of the world, they witness to that fact in tangible ways, every day, throughout the year!
